Hello, folks! Here’s the second installment of the 31DC2017Weekly — a skittlette mani with a mix of leadlighting, glitter and some grungy sponging. Here are some shots in the sunlight:
On my ring and middle fingers, I applied 3 coats of OPI So Many Clowns… So Little Time. This may be my favourite off-white polish yet; apparently it’s supposed to be a light pink, but on my complexion it looks off-white, evens itself out perfectly from the get go and builds up to the perfect soft colour. I stamped on these fingers using the Moyra Moments plate and Born Pretty black stamping polish. I have been wanting to try out leadlighting for a while now. Leadlighting is a technique where you stamp an image on your nail, then colour it in using thinned down or sheer nail polish. This is not like reverse stamping where you colour in an image on the stamper or a mat (using sheer or opaque polish) then apply it to your nails. Here’s a shot under artificial light:
For the leadlighting, I placed a few drops of two different orange polishes and a grey — Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Sun Kissed, CND Vinylux in Fine Vermilion and my medium-grey frankenpolish — on a plastic bag and thinned them down with some clear nail polish. I coloured in the stamped images using the tiniest dotting tool I have. On my thumb and index finger, I applied two coats of Sun Kissed, then sponged on the other two polishes for a grungy, mottled look. Finally, for the little finger, I applied some peel-off base coat and then sponged on some gold glitter (L’Oreal Magical Top Coats in The True Gold).
I could not resist taking some macro shots with my new clip-on cell phone macro lens 😀
