Hello, folks! While perhaps a large majority of you are busy ushering in a new year in style, I am trying to put a gassy baby back to sleep and decided it was the perfect opportunity to write a last-minute wrap-up post to see off a wonderful year. In my last post, I said I would try and fit another mani in this year, and I did, but only got around to photographing it today on day-3 of wear.
The base is a thermal polish, by Emily de Molly, called Stylish Cover-Up. It transitions from a dark red in its warm state to deep purple in its cold, with vibrant, metallic gold shimmer showing through in both states. The first two fingers in the picture above show the warm state and the ring & pinky fingers the cold state.
Over two coats of the base polish, I stamped with Color Club French Tip and Moyou London Trendhunter-16. I used my Creative Shop galaxy stamper after ages and the pick-up was so fantastic, I cannot remember why I haven’t been using it all this time. I am used to a see-through stamper for designs like this, but the alignment didn’t turn out too bad. I used a matte top coat to finish off this look, because one can only go out of her comfort zone so much – red was difficult enough for me 😉. The shimmer shows through better in the macros, which also happen to show the polish mid-transition, in a rich berry-coloured state.
I have so much to be thankful for this year! I didn’t get to blog or work as much as I would have liked, but this journey of motherhood has been incredible so far. It is such a joy to watch how curious Baby ACD has grown to become; she can now initiate new games, communicate her needs quite clearly and even has distinct preferences! We find ourselves constantly scrambling after her while she goes off to explore new corners of each room and to find the most microscopic pieces of dirt. She seems to have a set agenda in mind, and no sooner have we managed to distract her from one mischief, is she on her way to try the next, without even having to waste a moment planning her next move!
Mr ACD and I are still parents-in-training and everyday we are learning – about raising a baby, about our own selves and about each other. We had never quite realized what a toll the prolonged state of sleep-deprivation and the constant vigilance can take on a relationship and on one’s own sense of self-identity, and everyday we are getting a little more used to this new normal. We’ve also been blessed enough to have enjoyed the company of family and friends for much of the year, and we are grateful for the outpouring of love. Here’s hoping that the new year will continue on a similar high, that we will continue to grow and learn, perhaps even sleep a little more, and always, always be able to share a chuckle at our own follies!
To all of you who read and visit this blog, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the support. Wishing you a very happy new year and may all your wishes come true this year!
