Hello, folks! The final prompt for the #clairestelle8challenge for this month is Thanksgiving feathers and I quite like how this one turned out.
I combined some of my favourite polish finishes in this mani – textures, a glitter crelly and a soft white polish on my ring finger that I wish I had left plain instead of adding in all those dots.
On my index and pinky fingers, I made a gradient using two texture polishes – Zoya Pixie Dust Arabella (magenta) and Dhara (orange). I started off by applying Arabella on the lower half of each nail, then applied Dhara around the tips. Next, I mixed the two polishes up on my nail art mat and used a detail brush to apply a thin line of the mixed polish and then blend all the colours while wet. For textured polishes, this is my favourite way of making a gradient since I find that using a sponge tends to dull the colours and takes away from the texture as well. After the gradient had dried, I stamped some feathers on each nail using Moyra black stamping polish and Born Pretty plate, BP-75.
On my middle finger, I applied three coats of KB Shimmer You Autumn Know, a white crelly with metallic orange, purple and gold glitters of mixed sizes. I stamped some feathers over it with the same black polish and the same stamping plate.
On the ring finger, I applied two coats of Cirque Colors Don’t Forget The Cannoli, an off-white crème. I reverse-stamped the image of the turkey from a Bundle Monster plate, BM-S210. I filled in the image with several stamping polishes by Born Pretty. It felt a little bare, so I proceeded to use a dotting tool and the polishes I used to fill in the feathers to make a bunch of dots. In retrospect, I wish I hadn’t.
I’ve really been enjoying this challenge. I’ll be honest, though, I tend to get a little obsessive and kind of rushed through this month’s prompts, sometimes doing two or even three on the same day when presented with the opportunity. I don’t like leaving things incomplete and because I knew we were traveling soon, I wanted to get them all done ahead of time. As a result, I was done with the entire challenge around mid-November, and that took some of the fun out of it. I’ll be MIA (from arting but hopefully not from posting) all of December, but when I get back, I hope to retain some of the fun of the challenge in the future.
I have a couple more manis lined up to post before we leave at the end of the week. Until tomorrow, toodles, and a very happy pre-Thanksgiving to all my American friends!
