31DC2017Weekly 10: Rainbow Gradient

My mother says I must have been born upside down. As soon as I’m told not to do something, that’s the only thing in the world that appeals to me. So, today, on this day of mothers, I present the one thing I wasn’t ever going to do voluntarily: a rainbow gradient! Happy Mothers’ Day, you all!

I sponged on the gradient using four multichromes — ILNP Hush and Reminisce, and Color Club We’ll Never Be Royals and Burnt Out. I expected a trippy, multi-multichrome-y effect, but was a little let down because the colours didn’t really shift at all. Either way, it was a very different look for me as I don’t often go around wearing so many colours on my hands! I tried to tone it down with some stamping, using Moyra stamping polish in beige and their plate, Lacelove 2 (plate #31).

      1. No way, they look super cool. 🙂 Sometimes I find that if I get too many “special” polishes going at one time, things DO get muddy – it’s like my nails go into spectacular overload and just can’t handle the awesomeness. I once did these all-holo-multi-chrome nails that I thought were going to look sooo cool, and they really didn’t – it was very hard to pick out the details of the manicure amid all the flashy.

        1. I hear ya! But just imagine if it had worked out!!! I’m not quite sure how I feel about holo in general, I feel like there’s just too much hype about it and I’m a bit underwhelmed.

        2. Eh, not all holos are created equal – some of them are actually kind of wussy, and they’ve got that kind of grey tinge to them in the shade. But then you’ll run across one that’s so bright, it’ll take your head off (Color Club Crystal Baller is insane, and so are the ILNP silver holos.)

  1. I love this look- it reminds me of antique jewelry! I think there’s lots of things I’ve said I’d never do but ended up dong… like buying stamping plates, lol. When I was first interested in nail art I told myself I didn’t need them and I wasn’t ever going to buy them, because I know myself and I knew that if I bought the first one I’d open Pandora’s box and end up buying them all. Now we all see how that turned out! Bwahahaha.
