NOTW: Dollar Store Stamping Experiment

Hello, there! A couple of months ago, I picked up a set of 6 7-ml bottles of nail polish by a brand called Mariposa at my local Dollarama. I haven’t used them very much, despite the fact that the colours are very shimmery and rich, with almost a foil finish. In fact, I’ve only used them once before for my stained glass nails. I was curious about how well these would work as stamping polish, so I decided to find out for myself and was very pleasantly surprised!

I stamped over a base of two coats of Sally Hansen CSM in On Pines and Needles, using two of the Mariposa polishes (I can see no colour names anywhere on the bottles, but I used the purple & green ones).

The stamping plate I used is one of the first I ever bought — KM-01 (link not for the same seller I purchased from). I rather regret buying this plate because it is a dupe of the beautiful DRK Nails Designer 1, which I didn’t know at the time. Now I cannot say in all honesty that I generally care very much whether I’m purchasing a dupe on Ebay or Aliexpress, and do not go to great lengths to find out. However, I absolutely love DRK Nails plates and wouldn’t have bought this trio (which includes another DRK Nails plate and one from Pueen) if I had known.

The image I stamped is the one from the top left corner. I didn’t care for the glossy version of this manicure very much and think it benefited greatly from a matte top coat (surprise, surprise!). I love how nicely the shimmery Mariposa polishes show up over the dark base. Here’s a close-up:
